Very Rare 19th Cent Harvest Horn

SOLD

Code: 11955

Dimensions:

W: 5.2cm (2")H: 41cm (16.1")

This is an incredibly rare 19th Cent Harvest Horn. Blown by the farmer at the start and end of the working day to tell the workers that it was time to start or stop working in the fields. It is made of tin and is in good condition. How rare is it? Well it is only the third one I have ever seen come up for sale in 36 years. One is in my collection, the other sold in Guildford for approx £240 25 years ago. The only other one of these I know of is in Norfolk's Rural Life Museum. They are typical to this area and are written about with photos in Philip Wright’s Book on Old Farm Implements.
