I know these as 'Norfolk Deadfall Mousetraps' but they were not totally specific to this region. Often home made, this one is well made and is in pitch pine and works with a wire catch. The mouse enters the tunnel where bait is placed on the trip plate. The weight and movement of the mouse sets the trap off, which is when the block weight falls squashing the victim. Ouch!
