This is a rare early 19th cent Potato Rake. Potatoes were thrown into the hot ashes of an Inglenook fire. This item was used for turning them over and scooping them out once baked. The spike end could also be used for stabbing them to pick them up. Rare down hearth tool dating from early 1800s. One of only three I have ever had in over 40 years!
