SOLD

19th cent East Anglian Mill Bill for dressing mill stones. This one is in excellent condition, has long original oak handle (Thrift) and its original pick with fixings.

It is said that the mill stones of a working windmill needed 'dressing' every 6 to 8 days in it's heyday.

This was a skilled process as the stones had to run evenly with no high or low spots.

The handle is known as the Thrift and the pick, a 'Bill'.

This one has owner's initials R P stamped clearly on the top.
