19th Cent Sussex Square Canister Sheep Bell (D)

Code: 13127

SOLD

19th Cent English sheep bell. Note, the shepherd owned the crook, bells and lanterns, whereas the master owned the flock etc.

This is a square canister bell and innate only to Sussex and parts of Kent. The bell measures 4 inches at the mouth, leather collar strap with brass buckle. It has its original clapper too. There is evidence of the original brass coating which improved the resonance but rubbed off easily.
