19th Cent English ram's bell. Note, the shepherd owned the crook, bells and lanterns, whereas the master owned the flock etc.
This is a large Clucket bell and innate to the southern parts of England. The bell measures 5 inches at the mouth. It has its old leather stap and its original clapper. There is evidence of the original brass coating which improved the resonance but rubbed off easily. A bell this size is usually associated with a ram or a larger breed.
