The classic French confit pot, typically found in the South West of France, dates from the late 18th and 19th century. It was used for preserving food such as meats, especially duck, which is a local speciality. The top half has a yellow glaze and the bottom half is unglazed. Think Van Gogh's sunflowers, this was the type of pot in the painting. The honey gold is wonderfully vibrant. There is also some green which is another glaze used in that region. This pot is in very good condition for its age.
