19th Cent English wall mounting Tin Candle Box.
Early candles were made of tallow - melted down sheep bones.
The candles easily went mouldy. These boxes hung in the Inglenook and were filled with bran that kept the candles dry and mould free.
Attractive design with backplate and hanging lugs.
