19th cent brass, 5 x valve Crusie Lamp of a style typical to the Normandy region and used in the French provincial kitchens. All original ironwork with Brass Hombard hook.
These early lamps were filled with fish oil or similar. The wick rested in the triangular corners and the bottom cup caught the drips. There is pinwork decoration on the back plate.
