18th Cent Wick Lamp on Trammel Hook

18th/early19th cent, Single valve Wick Lamp with twisted Hombard hook. This one is hanging on its original adjustable Hake or Trammel hook. Oil or fat was placed in the hanging cup and a crude splint or cloth leaned over the edge and burned like a wick. The ratchet hook is beautifully made and adjusts so it could be hung from a ceiling. This one is 83cm long when not extended.
