French Adrien Dubois Botanists Flower / Fruit Gatherer Gadget Cane
This is a rare early 1900s flower & fruit picker.
The fruitwood handle has a small ring, which when pulled opens & closes the picker and is furnished with a nickel silver collar.
The picker features a bamboo shaft, and the handle is embossed with the maker:
'A.D Brevets
Adrien Dubois'
Also known as:
'Cueilleuse du Dubois'
'Many adverts at the time described the casual joy of using Adrien Dubois’ garden cane, which promises to pick flowers and fruits up to 3 meters in height. In 1884, the Journal of Practical Agriculture, Gardening, and Home Economics wrote: "The idea of making similar instruments is not new, but none of these tools compares to Mr Dubois"'
In the end of the handle a brush unscrews for pollinating flowers.
Rare item, perfect for any garden collector
