I am selling a rare 18th cent matching pair of Lady's Show Pattens.
Shoe leather was expensive in earlier times and these strange items were worn in rural areas to save feet from getting wet in marshy areas etc. Each has a raised wooden sole on an iron ring, worn to raise one's feet above wet or muddy ground when walking outdoors.
They are incredibly difficult to find and even more so to have a matching pair complete with leather sides. They are well worn and appear to be the size of a woman's feet. There is evidence of original black paint and all iron fixings are present and complete. The only other set I have seen sell were on Ebay some years back for £450!
