Fine, antique harvest barrel also known as a Costrol. These barrels were taken into the field during harvest time and this size is typical for one man. Sometimes called wages barrel as the Ale or Cider supplied by the farmer also became part of the working wage. Excellent condition with all rungs complete. Evidence of some original blue paint. This Costrol has had two sets of owner's initials imprinted on the ends: R.B and G.O. so must have changed hands in its lifetime use.
