Antique Cow or Ox Shoe

I am told that these shoes were placed on cow's feet when driving them through cobbled streets etc to market.

This one is on the large side. It has not been used otherwise the upright cleat would have been hammered into a curve to hold it in place on the hoof. Used shoes have the upright lug folded over the top of the hoof.
