Child's Bird Clappers

This is a pair of vintage child's Bird Scaring Clappers in oak. Very simply made, typical to this area. Scaring birds was a child's first introduction to farm life aged 12 to 14 and was paid a penny a day at the end of the 1800s.

The string has been replaced as worn through.
