This is a pair of original Victorian Bird Scaring Clappers in oak. Very simply made and used to keep the birds off the crops. Scaring birds was a child's first introduction to farm life aged 12 to 14 and was paid a penny a day at the end of the 1800s. A very nice example from a private museum.
